Meet the Wicked Travel Bug
Jennifer Charles
Jen Charles is the passionate traveler and founder behind Wicked Travel Bug, a female-owned small business dedicated to creating unforgettable travel experiences. A devoted mom of two incredible kids (and two lovable beagles) and a proud wife, Jen’s love for travel started at a young age and has taken her across the globe.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Travel & Tourism Management from Johnson & Wales University in 1997, with a college internship that took her to Rome and Malta. During her time in Malta, she worked at the U.S. Embassy alongside former Rhode Island Mayor Joseph Paolino, who was then the U.S. Ambassador to Malta.
Jen’s career in the airline industry began with American Airlines, where she held multiple roles, including ticket and gate agent, first-class agent, international arrivals specialist, and ultimately, manager of the Admirals Club. She also completed a summer internship with Delta Airlines at Logan Airport. After the events of 9/11 led to layoffs, Jen shifted her focus to helping others experience the joy of travel.
With firsthand experience of destinations worldwide, Jen specializes in all-inclusive resorts, river and ocean cruises, Alaska, Disney, Universal, Hawaii, Europe, couples’ getaways, family vacations, group travel, and more. She holds certifications from major cruise lines, resorts, and global destinations and brings real-life expertise in traveling with special needs as a mom of a child with Autism.
